  • For best results, outdoor decks should be re-oiled or re-stained every 12-24 months, depending on exposure to sun and rain.

  • While pressure washing removes surface dirt, it doesn’t smooth out rough areas or remove deep stains. Sanding ensures an even finish and proper stain absorption. If your deck is relatively new, we offer a ‘wash and seal’ which doesn’t need any sanding.

    • Stain adds colour and UV protection, and can be used in either water-based or oil based systems. 

    • Oil enhances the natural grain and penetrates the wood for better durability but requires more frequent maintenance.

    • Water-based surface coatings don’t need regular recoating, however they can peel over time and require re-sanding to recoat.

  • Some decks are able to be refreshed in a couple of hours, while others might take a day. This all depends on the size and condition of your deck.

    It’s important to note that if your deck is exposed to the elements, at least 24 hours of dry weather between coating and when you can use it again is strongly recommended for the best results.
